How to follow up on roofing estimates

Many homeowners collect more than one estimate and decide over a week or two. A short, friendly follow-up plan keeps your estimate in front of them without being pushy.

Published · welvy team

A simple schedule

  • Day 3: check they received it and offer to walk through it. Short and helpful.
  • Day 7: answer the questions homeowners usually have: warranty, timing, financing and what happens next.
  • Day 13: a last friendly note. Let them know the estimate's valid-until date and that you're happy to help when they're ready.

What to say

Keep each one short, personal and about them: their roof, their timing, their questions. Mention one or two things that set your company apart, like your workmanship warranty or how long you've worked locally. Always give an easy way to reply or call.

When to stop

Stop as soon as they approve, say no, or ask you to stop. After the third follow-up, move the job to lost or check back next season. Note why you lost it, so you can spot patterns later.

Make it automatic without making it robotic

In welvy, follow-ups are prepared for you 3, 7 and 13 days after an estimate is sent, using your own wording for roof jobs. You read each one and press send, so nothing goes out without you. They stop by themselves once the customer approves.

Common questions

How soon should I follow up on a roofing estimate?

Two to three days after sending it is a good first check-in: soon enough to be helpful, not so soon it feels pushy.

How many times should I follow up on a roofing estimate?

Three follow-ups over about two weeks is a good rhythm for most homeowners. Stop sooner if they approve, decline or ask you to stop.

What should a roofing estimate follow-up email say?

Thank them, check they have what they need, answer common questions such as warranty, timing and financing, and make it easy to reply or call.
