Roofing estimates
Roofing estimate software that starts from your cost
Type in what the job costs you. welvy sets each price at your target margin, adds tax on materials and the deposit, and turns it into a clean estimate your customer can approve online.
Price from cost, not from guesswork
Many roofers add a markup to their cost and call it margin, then wonder where the profit went. welvy works the other way round: you choose the gross margin you want to keep, and it prices each line so that's what you keep. See the guide below for the math.
How an estimate comes together
- Start blank or from your own template, such as a full tear-off with your usual shingle line
- Add materials and labor from your price book, kept per square, bundle or piece the way you buy them
- Paste a supplier's price list to update the price book in one go
- Tax is worked out on material cost, and the deposit (for example 50%) shows on the estimate
- Show the customer every line with quantities, the items without prices, or just the scope and total
- Email it from your own Gmail as a PDF, with a Review & approve online button
What your customer sees
A clean, branded estimate with your logo, the scope of work, the price and your terms. Your costs, margins and profit are never on it. When they approve online, the estimate and job move to Approved and you get an email.
Common questions
How do I price a roofing job for a target margin?
Divide your cost by one minus the margin you want to keep. For a $12,000 cost and a 35% margin, that's $12,000 ÷ 0.65 = $18,461.54. Adding 35% to the cost instead gives $16,200, which is only about a 26% margin.
Can I hide quantities and unit prices from the customer?
Yes. Each estimate can show every line, the items without prices, or just the scope of work and the total.
Can customers sign the estimate online?
Yes. They tick that they agree to the price and terms and type their name to sign. welvy keeps the time, name and a copy of what they approved.
Does it handle sales tax on materials?
welvy applies your tax rate to the material cost on each estimate. How sales tax works for roofers depends on your state, so set it up the way your accountant advises.
